A few bits of info. The 30/40 krag was the first US. Weapon adopted by the military to use smoke less powder, a big advantage over black powder, not giving away your position, with a big belch of smoke when you fire your weapon. The cartridge replaced the 45/70 government as the cartridge of choice for military use.
My rifle above was made over 100 yrs ago 1898
It was a short lived military weapon, because it couldn't be
Reloaded with chargers / stripper clips.
So it was replaced with the 1903 Springfield 30.06

Two yrs ago ,on opening morning my wife and I were headed out in the dark to our spots.,
And next I new I was falling on my face, smashing my rifle on the ground. I told my wife to go get up her tree stand, I have to go back to the house and grab a different rifle. I new my scope had to be messed up.
After hunting season I started thinking about that morning. If that was my wife who tripped and smashed her rifle. She would've been done. I really don't have another rifle she would be comfortable shooting.
So I started looking for something she could use for a backup deer rifle.
Walking true a local gun shop, I spotted what looked like a old marlin 30/30. Picked it up and read the barrel, western auto supply company. Revelation 200.
And I couldn't believe what I just read.
My mind took me back to my earliest years. My parents
Did a lot of shopping at Western Auto supply.
My first 3 speed bike came from western auto supply.
My first firearm a single shot 22 rifle came from western auto supply. My dad built us a flat bottom boat , to go fishing, and he bought a new outboard motor from western auto supply.
And all these memories came back to me , when I read that name.
I took that rifle up to the counter, and bought it on the spot,
That rifle means so much to me. Now I Am trying to find a box of ammo, that was sold by western auto, that went by the name of Revelation as well.
Ever time we went to that store I would go to that counter
And look at all the guns and ammo. My mom. Bought me that first 22. When I was old enuf to get my small game hunting license.

Wow what a cool story! So Western Auto Supply was like your local Sears, Roebuck back in the day when they sold everything from women's underwear and suits to appliances and firearms? Definitely a lucky find. Good luck finding that matching ammo.

I hit all my local gun show s, have found revelation 22, ammo, but no center fire ammo yet, I check ebay every once in a while. Thanks.

Oh that makes since. They sound similar in the wide variety of items they carried. Sadly....Sears is now failing.

Yup, just like Montgomery Wards, that's we're I bought my wife's first rifle, a 243

Now that's another blast from the past. My how things are changing. I remember when I was a boy, I used to love looking at the old Sears catalogs from the early 1900's and look at the rifles that sold for just a few dollars.

I just picked up an old Montgomery ward's catalog from a flee market, it's full of guns ,gun parts, knifes etc.

I gave my friend the catalog, but if he still has it , or doesn't want it , i will get pictures and or bring it back

My friend is an old farmer, and the catalog has a lot of farming equipment from days of old .ground driven equipment, like horse pulled sickle bar mowers
Potato diggers etc. Horse pulled carriages.
