Much to my dismay, after purchasing a Remington model 870 I discovered the trigger guard and trigger are PLASTIC. I'm looking to replace it with an aftermarket, but have yet to find anything in my searches.
Anyone aware of a non-plastic alternative trigger assembly?

You need to replace the trigger group with the police model which is all metal. It's expensive in relation to the cost of the Remington 870.

Found this link as well for upgrading your model 870.

Hi 556NATO,
I was a bit surprised that the new 870 Remington Pumps now have Plastic Trigger Guards and Triggers. Mine is one of the first quarter million. When they sell 10 million + of an item they are always looking to save a few cents per unit. Cranky's referral of BROWNELLS is a good one. I have used Brownell's for many years and have not been disappointed with anything I got from them.

I got it at a very fair price. $100. from a kid who was going to boot camp. So dumping another $150 +/- into it won't be bad. Thanks for the input.

MY Model 870 12 Ga. Shotgun with the original 20" rifle sighted smooth bore, Rifle Bored Hasting barrel with Scout Scope and 28" Shot Barrel. With this shotgun there is nothing I cannot do that needs to be done with a shotgun. I have used this gun for every thing from Partridge to Deer and even Moose.

Nice set up. I'm not that much into shotguns to be honest. I bought it because I didn't have one and it was a steal at $100. What did you use for the moose? Deer slug?

I drew Unit M which is Shotgun only. I bought the rifled hastings barrel with scope. BRI SABOT SLUGS were wonderfully accurate but unfortunately the big bull moose that I had been tracking for days walked into the sights of another hunter. The Moose hunt was over soon after that. The Hunt does not always end with a harvest.

That's a tough hunt. Too bad you lost him to another hunter. True enough that the hunt doesn't always end with a harvest. If we want a guaranteed harvest, we go to the market. ;)

A day in the woods hunting is far better than almost anything else you might have to do.

I can't argue with that. Love being in the woods.
