Hi all. I'm curious about your experiences with Wolf or Tul-ammo steel case. My AR loves PMC Bronze, Federal and American Eagle. During the Obama ammo shortage I panic bought hundreds of rounds of cheap Russian ammo. My AR doesn't seem to cycle it very well. I even had a couple rds that wouldn't eject and got stuck in the barrel. My thought is that the coating on the casings melts when the barrel gets hot and they stick. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same problem with Wolf ammo in my Sig M400. While rapid-firing a shell got stuck. Barrel was hot so I figured it was the coating on the steel case getting gummy. PMC Bronze is good and inexpensive plinking ammo.

Thanks for the reply Sig. Looks like I'm steering clear of the Russian junk. It's not worth the frustration during a good day at the range.

I picked up a Ruger Mini 14 Target model a few years back (Which unlike the Mini 14 ranch rifle is chambered in 223 rem only) I got home and wanted to shoot it. All I had was some Wolf 62 gr HP's in steel that were labeled 223 rem. Well they would not chamber and got jammed! So I never tried anything but brass cased again in that rifle. My Mini 14 ranch rifle will shoot them fine and I have about 200 rds left but I will not buy any more! Steel on Steel can't be a good thing.

Agreed. Steel on steel has to be bad. I'm sure there would be some parts replacement after a few thousand rounds of steel ammo. I think I'll be selling what I have left in steel.

Steel case ammo is junk. Brass is well worth the extra few bucks and brass plinking ammo is pretty inexpensive.
