Anyone here have the secret to staying in shape after you retire?
Iam well past retirement age. But this is what I do to try and be able to hunt this fall.
Most every morning I jump on my mountain bike and ride the roads around my area 5.22 miles, I like to stop and take pictures of the farms, and maybe get a picture of deer out in the fields at sunup.
If I don't ride, I walk 2.5 to 3 miles, and get even more pictures, on my way. Will post some of my walks and rides on here.
Anyone go for walks in the woods, that's good exercise too.
Or work out in a gym. ?
Let me know if you have found a good way to beat back the clock.

This is a picture of my uncle bob, when he was 87 years old.
I took up to the Adirondacks, where we used to hunt together.
That day was his last hunt, he's in a nursing home now, 91 years old.
Iam trying to be in his shape at 87, and be able to carry a rifle
And a backpack into the woods, god bless him.

Added in 22 minutes 15 seconds later:
I will never forget how excited he was when I asked him if he wanted to go up to Newcomb for a day hunt.
His daughter wanted to kill me, but I promised I would bring him back in one peace.
The morning I picked him up, he had a new backpack, and a new thermos for his black coffee. Just liked he use to take to work every day.
Sorry for my rambling on.

Added in 45 minutes 47 seconds later:
I'll tell you the story behind that 30/30 marlin ,bob is holding.
When bob came home from the Korean war, he bought
A new car, then fall came and he didn't have a deer rifle, well he asked some neighbors around other farmers, if they had a deer rifle they would sell, well one neighbor said he had a new marlin 30/30, he would trade for a car.
Well my uncle bob, had his old 48 ford parked behind the
Barn, and told his neighbor ,it ran fine when he left for Korea, the other farmer came over and bob got the old car fired up, they made the trade , that's the only deer rifle my uncle bob ever had, and it's killed a lot of deer over the years, both sides of the grips are all notched up
From deer he has taken.

Just took my bike ride at 05:25 , 62 degrees and humid
First thing I seen was two hen turkeys with there little ones, on the shoulder of the road, they were watching me, no chance of dismounting my bike and getting a picture. Then I got to one of Stanley's hay fields, and two deer were in that, stopped and got their pic.
Then just in time, I got a couple pictures of the sun coming up over Nh. In the north east. And another deer
Posing for their picture.

70 degrees at 05:30 this morning, looks like we had a good rain last night. Only one deer this morning on my bike ride, it was on the power line as I went by. No bunny rabbits today.
Fall is coming the hickory nuts are falling in the road, and a few acorns, but there not fully developed yet, I think the squirrels are chewing them off.
Have a great Day
