I Am talking one you use to go into with your dad . Or maybe
The first one were you bought your own first shotgun or rifle.
Not talking the big box stores.
The mom and pop local gun shop, that are probably gone now.
My first was as I mentioned earlier, western auto supply, were my mom bought me my first single shot 22.
The old gun shop were I use to do a lot of business, was a huge old factory, that made clothing, the up stairs was full of old sewing machines, that were run off a single Jack shaft, that a bunch of Pulleys and belts ran off of down to all the machine s.
And how the floor s were wood, smelled of oil, and very un even
And all the guns were in racks on the floor we're you could pick up and look at anyone you wanted. You didn't need to get a sales person, to unlock the case, and if you bought a gun, the sales person
Didn't have to carry it out of the store for you. Or put it in a box.

Ahh the good old days.
I bought my first pistol at Al's Rod & Gun shop in Salem, MA. It was a Bersa .380. The store was tiny - probably 250 sq. feet - and run by the owner with no other employees. This is going back to the mid-late 80's.

My first shop was the Collector's Coin Gallery in Stoneham, MA. Now at a different location and they changed the name to Collector's Gallery. I no longer frequent Mass. gun shops since I now live in NH. LFoD

The sad thing is that most of the Local Gun Stores are gone. I spent many hours in Newburyport MA in Narrow,s Gun Shop With Ebin Lambert and later with his Son in a bigger shop down the street.

So true,
I posted a question once on a gun site. If you owned your own gun shop, what guns would you stock/ caliber s would you have?
One reply was, if I had the money to open my own gun shop, I would open a furniture store, 3 -5 hundred % Mark up, and no ATF. Knocking on the door checking the books.

The thing that really gets to me is the old shops and what they had and the cheap prices by today's standards. NARROWS when I first went into it would have a half dozen WW2 1911A1 Colts for between $35 and $40 each. I bought my first Colt 1943 1911A1 for $35. I bought a Remington M1903A3 Springfield 30-06 in beautiful condition for $40. S&W or Colt 1917 revolvers were between $30 and $40 each. My first pistol a brand new RUGER Standard cost only $37.50.
