ImageThe City of Columbus has postponed its hearing on proposed gun control legislation originally planned for March 23rd. The most egregious of the proposals is to ban magazines with a capacity over an arbitrary number of cartridges, which will undoubtedly ban most standard-capacity magazines in use by law-abiding citizens. Of course, any such legislation they might pass will be in violation of Ohio’s preemption law, which prevents localities from making their own gun control ordinances. This ensures that citizens across the whole state have access to the same Second Amendment rights, and prevents the creation of a confusing patchwork of laws that is hard to understand and obey. While Columbus has not announced if they will reschedule this hearing, NRA-ILA will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed.
