ImageAP Photo/Michael Conroy The Avon Police Department is planning to honor Samaria Blackwell, a victim of the FedEx shooting, by gathering shouldering patches from surrounding law enforcement agencies to present to the family. The department hopes that fellow law enforcement agencies can take part to honor Blackwell, 19, who had dreams of becoming a police officer, and who was described by her family in a statement as “fun loving, “caring,” and “tenacious in everything she did.” Image“It was no secret to her family and friends that this beautiful young lady had dreams of becoming a police officer one day,” wrote Avon police in a Facebook post. Avon PD has been in contact with Blackwell’s family and is working to gather shoulder patches from surrounding agencies to show support. The police department says any officers or agencies wishing to provide a patch can mail them to 6550 East U.S. Hwy 36 Avon, IN 46123. Agencies near central Indiana can deliver their patch to APD’s office.
