ImageA Johnson City man was arrested after a police dog found him in the basement of a village building. Authorities say 19-year-old Jason Canfield has been charged with burglary and criminal mischief in connection with an early-morning break-in at a Johnson City business. Police were dispatched when a burglar alarm was triggered around 1 a.m. Sunday. Officers spotted a broken window in the rear of the building. A person was observed running across a hallway inside the Computer Man store at 140 Harry L Drive. Investigators say Canfield was taken into custody after the police dog discovered him hiding in the basement. Police say Canfield was in possession of property from another Harry L Drive business which had been burglarized earlier. Charges in connection with that incident are pending. Canfield was arraigned and ordered held at Broome County Jail. Johnson City police were assisted by Broome County sheriff’s deputies and New York State Police troopers.
