By PoliceOne Staff NORFOLK, Va. — An officer has beaten out hundreds of other candidates across the nation for PETA’s “Sexiest Vegan” competition this year. According to a press release, Officer Thomas Meyer went vegan almost two years ago to combat his family’s history of high cholesterol. Since his transition, his cholesterol dropped, his workout performance improved and he has a positive outlook on his life. At work, he’s known as the “vegan police.” Meyer has encouraged many of his fellow officers to add veganism to their lifestyle by trying vegan meals and vegan protein powder. Many of his colleagues are now dairy free because of his efforts. He even got one to go completely vegan. Meyer says Las Vegas Officer David Anthony, last year’s Sexiest Vegan Next Door winner, is his vegan role model. "Thomas Meyer shows his commitment to protecting and serving all living, feeling beings every time he sits down to eat," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said. "All the finalists in PETA's Sexiest Vegan Next Door contest prove that there's nothing sexier than striving to make the world a kinder place." Voting for the contest ends on May 13. Two winners will receive a free vacation for two to Hawaii, courtesy of Human Travel.
