Hi Biglever,
I too prefer the bigger rounds although my 45-70 is a Custom bolt action Siam Mauser. I also have a 35 Whelen 700 Remington bolt gun. I think either will do what is necessary. I do like lever guns.Image

Almost bought a 35 Whelen, once, them I seen a custom 8mm, mauser, and had to have that

My other big bore is my Remington 700 in 35 Whelen. With 200 grain or 250 gr bullets it should stop any large game on this continent any most of the game else where,Image

I do like lever guns but this .35 cal lever gun is a 357 magnum and very pleasant to shoot.
